Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are experiencing an explosion of people wanting to learn British Sign Language.
Over 70 students have begun courses with Sign Language Academy this month and that’s in addition to the 55 students we have already taught this year so far! All together Sign Language Academy has delivered sign language courses to 125 students since January.
Enrollment has already opened for courses beginning in January 2016 in Cambridge. Jamie Billam, Sign Language Academy’s senior tutor will be teaching new level 1 and level 2 students in the new year. You can enrol for those courses here or register your interest for other up coming BSL courses
Andy Palmer, Managing Director of Cambridgeshire Deaf Association said: “This is great news on so many levels. Not only is it brilliant that there is such enthusiasm for this beautiful language in our area, but we have learners from many public services taking part and any surplus from these courses goes towards our community fund which is there for the benefit of deaf people in this area.”
“I was fortunate enough to learn sign language from a young age and develop it over time. It’s a beautiful language and one I would encourage anyone to get to know.”
Courses are often over subscribed so potential learners are advised to enrol as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.
