Freedom Programme
CDA worked with Womens’ Aid to adapt the freedom course and is now funded yearly by the PCC
At CDA we are committed to running an ongoing service for Deaf domestic abuse victims. The freedom course is provided in British Sign Language using visual resources to support Deaf victims to recognise red flags in relationships, safety plan and to think about their goals for a safe and happy future while also learning to accept that they are not to blame for the abuse.
The Freedom Programme supports women, helping them to recognise that they are not to blame for domestic violence, and to understand why it is happening to them.
The service is completely confidential service and we never advertise the time, date or location of the course.
Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors
CDA Employ two qualified Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors that operate within the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire areas and can fully support women and men who are deaf, hard of hearing or use BSL. Both are native or fluent BSL users and bring years of experience to the role, supporting victims in high risk and complex cases.
