For the first time in our history, Cambridgeshire Deaf Association has been given a place in the TCS London Marathon on Saturday 24th April 2027. One place, one CDA and it falls in our centenary year, 100 years of CDA in 2027.

We entered the ballot for a single charity place back in the spring, were told in July we weren’t successful but then completely out of the blue, they contacted us in August to offer CDA a place after all. We still can’t quite believe it!

Now all we need is someone to run it for us.

2027 is also the first time the marathon has ever run over two days, with 100,000 runners taking part across the weekend of 24th and 25th April. Ours is a place on Saturday 24th April 2027.

Only one place

It’s just the one place, so we know not everyone who applies will get to run. But whoever it is will be making that famous turn at Buckingham Palace onto The Mall, crossing the finish line in a #TeamCDA vest and we can’t wait to find out who that’s going to be.

We know it’s a big ask! A full 26.2 miles, months of training and a fundraising target that takes real commitment. But, it’s also one of the most exciting days in sport.

What we’re asking of our runner

  • Fundraising pledge: £2,500 minimum
  • Halfway point: £1,250 raised by Sunday 28th February 2027
  • Entry fee: £100, payable when you accept the place
  • Apply by: Monday 30th November 2026

We won’t pretend that’s a small ask, but you won’t be doing it alone. We’ll build a fundraising plan with you, help you set up your JustGiving page, give you materials to share and have someone at CDA with you every step of the way.

What you raise will make a real difference to the services we run, including our sports programme, which we’re genuinely proud of: pickleball, deaf boxing, our Cambs Hammers deaf football team and our new deaf and hard of hearing walking football sessions at Power League in Stanground.

Already got a London place of your own?

If you came through the public ballot, or you’ve got a place through a club or a Good for Age time, you can still run for CDA! There’s no fundraising minimum and no entry fee. Just tell us you’re in, using the same form below.

We’ll add you to the #TeamCDA JustGiving page, send you a running vest and support your fundraising the same as everyone else on the team.

Don’t worry if you don’t get the place, you can still run for CDA

Only one person will get the CDA place, but that doesn’t have to be the end of it. TCS London Marathon MyWay lets you run the full 26.2 miles across that same weekend, wherever suits you, on your own streets, at your own pace and it’s open to everyone.

Enter through the official TCS London Marathon MyWay page, set up a JustGiving page for CDA and you’ll have our support behind your fundraising just the same.

How to apply

Applications for the CDA place will close at midnight on Monday 30th November 2026.

We want to hear from as many of you as possible, whatever your running background and we’ll read every single application with care before we pick our #TeamCDA Marathon runner. Could that be you?
