Access to healthcare can often be a nightmare for deaf people because so often the GP or hospital doesn’t book a qualified BSL interpreter.
CDA have produced a card for deaf people to hand directly to reception staff or nurses or doctors so their rights to an interpreter under the law are clear.
The cards explain how two pieces of legislation give deaf people the right to an interpreter. It couldn’t be clearer.
*Due to demand, there is a £2 charge for 10 cards to cover postage and printing*
The card also gives a few more tips for how healthcare providers can make some reasonable adjustments to make a deaf persons experience of their service accessible.
