The good people at BBC Cambridgeshire are teaming up with Cambridgeshire Deaf Association to create a short weekly local news bulletin in British Sign Language .. and we’re looking for someone to present it!
BBC News provide national news in British Sign Language translators twice daily on the News Channel and now, for a six-week trial, we’ll be working with the BBC to provide the top stories from Peterborough and Cambridgeshire once a week in British Sign Language .. with subtitles too.
This means the Deaf BSL community in our area will, for the first time, have access to high quality local news in BSL.
Want to be a part of it?
We’re looking for someone who is very confident in front of the camera, is fluent in British Sign Language, has English skills (script will initially be in English) and can commit to one or two hours a week in Cambridge for the duration of the 6-week trial. We’ll pay £30 for each bulletin.
If you’re interested, please contact us by email firstname.lastname@example.org and you’ll be invited for an audition.
