Two BSL tours at Feel the Force Day, Peterborough Cathedral, this Saturday

Feel the Force Day comes to Peterborough Cathedral this Saturday, 5 September 2026, and Cambridgeshire Deaf Association will be running two British Sign Language tours on the day — one at 12pm and one at 2pm.

The event is open from 11.00am to 6.00pm at Peterborough Cathedral, Minster Precincts, Peterborough PE1 1XS. General admission tickets are £10.00 and are booked through the Feel the Force Day website.

What is Feel the Force Day?

Feel the Force Day is a film and TV convention designed for disabled people. The organisers started it because mainstream conventions do not let disabled people get near the thing they have come for, and they have built this one around access from the ground up — level access throughout the venue, a changing place, tactile displays, smell jars, chill out zones and sign language interpretation.

This year’s event is called The Immortal Feel the Force Day. There are celebrity guests including Sheila Reid, John Altman, Hattie Hayridge and Mark Wingett, a stage show running from 12.00pm through the afternoon, Star Wars characters, Optimus Prime, a titanosaur, and a market place of traders, local charities and support services.

Two BSL tours — 12pm and 2pm

Cambridgeshire Deaf Association is running two tours of the event in British Sign Language, one at 12pm and one at 2pm. Meet at the Taggi desk.

The tours go round the exhibitors, the displays and the cosplayers, with everything delivered in BSL. Deaf people often end up working out what is going on at an event like this from the outside. On the tour you get it directly.

BSL interpreters on the main stage

Interpreters will be on the main stage for the activities, so the stage show is accessible as it happens.

Why come

The draw is simple. Walk round, meet people, see what the exhibitors have brought and get your photo taken with the cosplayers. It is a day out, and it is one where deaf BSL users are not an afterthought.

Cambridgeshire Deaf Association has been working with the organisers in the run-up to this, and I’m really pleased we’ve got two BSL tours and interpreters on the main stage. It’s taken a lot of work from a lot of people to get there. If you’re a deaf BSL user, please come down — come for one of the tours if you can, and have a good look round the rest of it while you’re there.”

Getting there

Peterborough Cathedral is a ten minute walk from Peterborough train station and five minutes from the nearest bus stop. There is no public parking at the venue, but there is disabled parking and EV charging within a short walk.
