Deaf Card for Speech to Text and Lipspeakers launched

In the wake of the successful Deaf Card launch recently and due to popular demand, we’re pleased to launch our new Deaf Card which gives people the option of specifying a lipspeaker or speech-to-text-reporter for their appointments.

Deaf or hard-of-hearing people can make a mark on the new card to clearly show which method of communication they prefer.

Now we have two deaf cards available:

  • The original BSL interpreter deaf card &
  • The lipspeaker and STTR card

And Palmer, Managing Director of the Cambridgeshire Deaf Association said: “We have sent out over 4,000 Deaf Cards around the UK and since then we’ve had people contacting us asking about cards that could be used by deaf or hard-of-hearing people who don’t sign but for whom access to services is just as important.”

“So I’m delighted to say that now we have expanded our range of cards to include a card that clearly demonstrates people’s rights to lipspeakers or speech-to-text reporters as well as BSL interpreters.”

“I’d encourage people to pass on the information so the cards get to as many people as possible and deaf or hard-of-hearing people can take full advantage of their rights under the law.”
