Ruth Godden wins Health Worker of the Year 2016

ruth.jpgCDA’s Managing Professional Advocate Ruth Godden has won Health Worker of the Year 2016 at the Cambridge News Community Awards.

Ruth, pictured above, is a qualified independent advocate for deaf people and took the award after being recognised for her work in the deaf community, particularly advocating for clients with health needs.

Ruth has worked for CDA three years and in that time played an important role in developing our Support and Advocacy Service which has supported hundred of deaf clients in that time. Often the cases she works on involve complex health needs or critical legal or safeguarding elements.

Ruth has also been at the forefront of developing valuable new services including the vital Freedom Programme in BSL and our Group Advocacy service.

Ruth is pictured here with John Elvin from award sponsor Medimmune at the ceremony at Homerton College in Cambridge on Tuesday night.

From all the staff and trustees at CDA – Congratulations!
