Fincham House naming ceremony 21st March

In memory of Linda Fincham, CDA’s members decided at our AGM in 2019 to name our building at Romsey Terrace in Cambridge to Fincham House.

The official naming ceremony will be held on Saturday 21st March at Cambridge Deaf Club starting at 2pm when a new sign will be unveiled by members of her family with some speeches. That will be followed by a celebration of Linda and the new name of the building including a buffet.

Linda was the one of the first two deaf people to become trustees at CDA after being a member for almost her entire life. She began attending the building in Cambridge at the age of 6. Her father, also deaf, was also committed to CDA regularly helping with the maintenance of the building.

Andrew Palmer, Chief Executive of CDA said:

“I think the naming of the building is a fitting way to remember Linda.

“We remember fondly her irrepressible character, smile and heart.

“The name Fincham House will be the permanent reminder of Linda’s contribution but not just that. The name also stands for the  contribution of the many deaf people, including Linda’s own family, through the years that have given so much to CDA and their local deaf community. Its recognising deaf leadership in the deaf community”

The large hall at Romsey Terrace will remain to be called ‘Hope Hall’.

The event is taking place at 8 Romsey Terrace, Cambridge, CB1 3NH. Parking will be available in CDA’s car park (limited to 10 spaces) and across the road in the Sailsbury Club car park.
